Car AC Recharge Tucson, AZ Cold Air. Charged Right.

A can from the parts store doesn't fix a leak — and overcharging can damage the compressor. Our AC recharge starts with a leak test and a proper evacuation, then charges the exact weight your system calls for.

A/C Recharge Service

Recharged to spec, not "until it feels cold."

Your A/C is a sealed system. If it's low on refrigerant, it leaked out somewhere — an O-ring, a Schrader valve, a condenser pelted by Tucson road debris. Topping it off with a DIY can just sends refrigerant out the same hole and often overcharges the system. Our recharge service pulls the system into vacuum to remove moisture, verifies it holds, and charges refrigerant by weight to the manufacturer's spec, then checks vent temps and pressures under load.

We service both R-134a and the newer R-1234yf systems found in most vehicles after 2015. If the test shows a leak or a weak compressor, we'll show you and explain the fix before doing anything — and the repair is backed by our written 12-month / 12,000-mile warranty. Need more than a recharge? See our full AC & heating repair page.

Leak Test First

UV dye and electronic sniffer testing to find where the refrigerant went before we put more in.

Evacuate & Recharge

Deep vacuum to remove moisture, then refrigerant charged by weight to spec — R-134a or R-1234yf.

Performance Check

Vent temperature, high/low pressures, compressor engagement and fan operation verified before it leaves.

Cabin Filter & Blower

A clogged cabin filter kills airflow. We check it with every recharge so the cold air actually reaches you.

Know The Signs

Signs your A/C needs a recharge — or more

01

Air is cool but not cold

Classic low-charge symptom — but also a sign of a slow leak we should find.

02

Cold at first, then warms up

Often a freezing evaporator, a cycling compressor or low charge.

03

Compressor won't kick on

Low-pressure switch keeping it off, an electrical fault, or a failed clutch.

04

Weak airflow from vents

Clogged cabin filter or a failing blower motor — not a refrigerant issue.

05

Recharged last summer, warm again

That's a leak. Another can won't fix it; a leak test will.

Common Questions

Car AC Recharge questions, answered straight.

It depends on the refrigerant type (R-1234yf costs more than R-134a) and whether a leak or component repair is needed. We test first and give you a written estimate before charging anything. Call (520) 624-9250 for current pricing.

Cans can't measure the charge, can't remove moisture, and usually contain sealers that clog the system. Overcharging can damage the compressor — the most expensive part of the A/C. A proper evacuate-and-recharge by weight is the right way.

A healthy A/C never needs recharging — it's sealed. If yours needs it every summer, it has a leak. We find and fix the leak so the recharge actually lasts.

Yes. Most vehicles from about 2015 on use R-1234yf, which requires dedicated equipment. We service both R-1234yf and R-134a.

Leak test, evacuation and recharge is usually done the same day. If a repair is needed, we'll tell you the timeline before starting.

Yes — every repair at C.C. Automotive carries a written 12-month / 12,000-mile warranty.
